Friendly Friday Photo Challenge: Revisiting an old place

No, it’s not Friday. Been busy getting used to my new job and my moods have been fluctuating so trying to ride all the weird and crazy waves and not lose my balance. I was surprised to see that this would be my first post for the month of May. I guess I really have been busy….

…anyway, this week’s theme from Something to Ponder About is “Something New/Something Different. Within the description was this: It might be something from your past that you have suddenly had the opportunity to revisit.

I’m originally from the state of Idaho. I’ve long had a love/hate relationship with where I’m from and spent several years trying to run as far away from it as possible. You can’t ever really run away from where your from though. On my last few visits I’ve been renewing my love of my home state. Been on some camping trips and have revisited places I never fully paid attention to or fully appreciated before.

Included here are just a few of my photo highlights, which includes two shots of the magnificent Snake River, three of a camping trip near the Stanley-Challis forest area in the Lost River basin and two additional photos of the awesome St. Anthony sands dunes.

    1. Thank you so much. Funny enough, Lost River is a real name but “forgotten lake” was one I made up because I truly couldn’t remember the name of the lake we camped by. I first thought it was Mackay reservoir but then I realized we weren’t in the right location for that. It is a beautiful lake though. 🙂

  1. I ventured into Idaho once b/c I took a wrong turn coming back from Grand Teton NP to Denver. I didn’t mind the detour, though, since I drove down a magnificent canyon along the way. Perhaps I’ll get back to visit some day. Your photos provide motivation to do so. 🙂

  2. Awesome pictures, JoAnn! Thanks for sharing a glimpse of the wonders that entice your soul.

Selecting the photos to include must’ve been a calming journey amidst current trials,

Even better, you took us along. Whew – we needed that!

    1. Some parts are very redneck. The movie Napoleon Dynamite was shot not too far from where I grew up… in fact the movie features the same sand dunes as the ones in my photos. 🙂

    1. You’re welcome. It’s enjoyable to go through my photos and find a new connection to something I hadn’t thought of before. A nice way to revisit old memories. 🙂🦋

  3. Idaho surely does have a varied landscape. I had not expected to see sand dunes there. Thanks for re-shaping my view. Interesting that you feel that you are getting to know your home state all over again. I think many of us try to run away from something that we don’t like, and associate that with the place with which it occurred. I hope you can continue to explore new places that replace that feeling with delight in discovery.
